Early Life
JT Casey, who has been very passionate about acting since he was a child, has appeared in several commercials prior to earning fame on TikTok. After becoming a viral sensation, he left school and continued his education via homeschooling.
Career
In early 2019, 16 years old JT Casey had started his social media career on TikTok and had gained a sizable following by sharing dance and lip-sync videos. However, according to him, he was ridiculed in school because TikTok was not considered cool at the time, because of which he even deleted his account three times, but kept coming back thanks to encouragement from his fan base. During his visit to VidCon during the summer vacations, he interacted with like-minded people and became determined to make more videos on TikTok. Soon after schools reopened, one of his videos went viral, which skyrocketed his popularity on the platform. He produced back-to-back successful videos and was adding hundred thousand followers every few days. Within a week, he got verified on the platform, which prompted his decision to leave school to focus on social media.
Although he had his self-titled YouTube channel since 2012, he became active on his channel on June 27, 2019 when he uploaded the video, I got my sister an iPhone XR for her birthday... (she cried). He had shared his top 5 TikTok tips during an appearance on the Heard Well YouTube channel in February 2020 and continued to make videos on similar content covering TikTok tips during his early YouTube career. In fact, he had turned to YouTube fearing a potential ban on TikTok, which he addressed in a video in August that year. He gradually started to focus on different types of content like vlogs, pranks, and challenges, often featuring his sister Amanda and his best friend Stephen Sharer, also a YouTuber. Thankfully for him, YouTube launched Shorts, which is comparable to TikTok, in March 2021, following which he started posting short videos exclusively. He had even become less active on TikTok for a time, but has now re-started posting on his TikTok profile and has started making long form videos on YouTube as well. Interestingly, he had achieved the feat of gaining over 500k subscribers in one day twice in early 2023 thanks to his shorts.
Family Life
James Thomas Casey was raised alongside a younger sister named Amanda. He started dating fellow TikTok star Amara Cordova in August 2020. The two appeared together at the premiere of Amazon Studios film I Want You Back in Los Angeles, California in February 2022.
