American Twitch streamer and cosplayer Emiru is best known to global social media users for her League of Legends streams and her cosplays on Twitch. She also owns an equally popular YouTube channel and co-owns the gaming organization One True King. Emiru has previously worked for Cloud 9. She also co-hosts a podcast named Steak and Eggs.
Early Life
Wichita-born Twitch star and social media celebrity Emily Schunk, better known as Emiru, is of Chinese-German descent. It is believed that her parent's tight schedules made little Emiru lonely. She thus spent her leisure time playing video games. In 2016, Emiru graduated from high school. While in high school, she was quite active in tennis and soccer.
Social Media Career
Emiru launched her career on social media with her YouTube channel on June 26, 2013. Most of her content on the platform revolves around the League of Legends game. She also posts her life vlogs on YouTube.
She began streaming on Twitch in November 2016. While she started her stint on Twitch with League of Legends streams, she later also focused on cosplays.
On August 20, 2020, Emiru joined the e-sports company Cloud 9 as a content creator. In 2021, her work apparently inspired League champion Gwen’s cosplay act.
On January 2, 2022, after Emiru’s contract with Cloud 9 expired, she joined the Texas-based gaming content organization One True King (OTK), which she now co-owns. The same year, she was nominated for The Streamer Award for the Best League of Legends Streamer and the Streamy Award for the Breakout Streamer.
In a Q&A livestream once, Emiru took a shot every time she could not answer a question. After facing a massive backlash from fans who thought she was promoting alcoholism, Emiru declared she would never again conduct a stream that involved alcohol.
Emiru also co-hosts the podcast Steak and Eggs, along with Asmongold (ZackRawrr) and Tectone. She has also been associated with the Ader Gaming marketing company. She now boasts of over 1 million followers on Twitch and 623,000 subscribers on YouTube.
Family Life
Emiru is the daughter of a Chinese mother and a German-American father. While her father is an entrepreneur, her mother is a lawyer. She grew up with her brother, Nicolas. She has previously dated fellow streamer Marcus Hill, also known as Dyrus. Dyrus has now retired but previously streamed content on the multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) League of Legends.
Emiru and Dyrus first met at a cosplay event in June 2016. They were apparently introduced by a mutual friend. On June 29, 2016, the duo announced that they were dating. After a 4-year relationship, they split in November 2020.
After Twitch streamers Matthew Rinaudo, or Mizkif, and Maya Higa split in September 2021, netizens believed Mizkif had started dating Emiru. The rumors started as soon as Emiru joined the gaming company OTK. However, the rumors were not proven to be true, and neither Emiru nor Mizkif have spoken about their alleged relationship.
