Damian Chrobak is a Polish social media star based in the United States who rose to fame on TikTok when the platform was still known as musical.ly. After starting in 2015, he had become disillusioned about the platform years later and had started to make videos on his eponymous YouTube channel, although he abandoned the platform in 2019. He is also very active on his Instagram handle @damianchrobak.
Career
Damian Chrobak started his social media journey on musical.ly in June 2015, long before it became known as TikTok. He had initially found out about the app through the popular “Don’t Judge Me” challenge that was trending on Facebook, Instagram and all other social media platforms at the time. He was immediately drawn to the app and decided to make his own lip-sync videos. He found inspirations for his videos from other musers like Nathan Triska, Rebecca Zamolo and Lauren Godwin, and worked hard to post videos everyday consistently, covering dance, lip-sync performances, and comedy sketches. While he did not get much recognition during the first year, he eventually started to add more and more fans and got “crowned” on the platform on October 27, 2016. He had become friends with fellow musers like Dyesharisby and WTFRicky, and had made duets with popular stars like Loren Gray.
While he enjoyed being on musical.ly, he already had a pretty negative opinion about the platform by the time he started posting videos on his YouTube channel in September 2017. Even as a starting YouTuber, he put YouTube above musical.ly because he believed that the latter was gradually dying out. In fact, in one of his earliest YouTube videos from June 2018, he listed reasons why he was done with musical.ly. He stated that the platform no more offered equal opportunities to every creator and rather showed favoritism; it didn’t like users promoting other platforms like YouTube and Instagram through their videos as his videos with links to other platforms consistently did worse; and the fact that the “For You” page was also inferior to the previous “Featured” page and didn’t promote innovative content. He also alleged possible bot issues.
While he confirmed that he was not leaving the app, which he loved, he was disappointed with continuous unwanted updates and stated that he will be posting more on YouTube. He did become more active on YouTube in the following months and started to upload comedy sketches, vlogs, reaction videos, morning routine and challenge videos. However, the last video he posted on the platform was in June 2019, while he continues to post on musical.ly, which is now TikTok, as well as Instagram.
Family Life
Although Damian Chrobak was born in Poland, he relocated to Illinois, United States with his family when he was just six. He has three siblings including a brother and two sisters. Both his parents and all his siblings were also born in Poland like him. He had shared a picture with Angelica Moczarny from their prom on Instagram.
