Caleb Marshall is an American YouTube fitness instructor who describes himself as a combination of Richard Simmons and Britney Spears. He, his manager and boyfriend Cameron Moody, and his “Backup Booty” dancers Haley Jordan and Allison Florea are self-proclaimed fitness pop stars who make fun, easy-to-follow dances for everyone. Through his company, The Fitness Marshall, he has released the Active Booty inclusive activewear line.
Early Life
Caleb Marshall attended Indiana University from 2011 to 2015 and obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree in Telecommunications from there. He was the Cardio Hip-Hop Group Exercise Leader at the Indiana University Campus Recreational Sports for four years.
Career
Caleb Marshall grew up performing and dreamed about becoming an actor or a pop star. However, he had given up on those dreams by the time he went to college to get a practical job. Nevertheless, he started teaching dance fitness classes in school to help fill the void. He was immediately in love with it because as someone who hated exercising, it allowed him to work out without actually doing so. He was actually fired from his fitness teaching job in school, following which he decided to focus fulltime on fitness. He founded his own fitness company, The Fitness Marshall, in September 2014.
When it came to choosing a platform to promote his brand, he selected YouTube because of its “search and discovery ability”. According to him, it is easy to earn 15 minutes of viral fame on other platforms, but not finding the content again in the sea of new content. He was in it for the long haul rather than making momentary viral videos, for which YouTube was more suitable. He created The Fitness Marshall channel in September 2014 and started uploading videos on it the next month with Tik Tik Boom - Britney Spears. He had a self-titled channel since 2010, which he later renamed to The Fitness Marshall Vlogs and started uploading on with GOING MERMAN in October 2015.
It took him until the video Meghan Trainor - Me Too in June 2016 to gain popularity. The video, which first went viral on Facebook, was shared by Meghan Trainor herself. It skyrocketed his fame overnight because his concert tours started to sell out worldwide after that. As for YouTube, he stated that he only earns from about 7% of his videos, as the rest were copyright claimed by record labels whose music he used in his videos. However, he has had discussions with YouTube CEO Susan Wojcicki and record labels for partnership deals. He was one of the few YouTubers who performed live on the stage at the 2019 Streamy Awards. In 2023, he appeared in the YouTube special Elmo's Mindfulness Spectacular and performed “The Elmo Slide" with Big Bird and Elmo.
Family Life
Caleb Marshall has a sister named Shaylee. He has been in a longtime relationship with Cameron Moody, who is also his manager, and got engaged to him in July 2021 after six years of dating.
