Sodapoppin, real name Thomas Chance Morris, is an American Twitch streamer and YouTuber, who has one of the largest followings on Twitch. He was already a popular streamer with years of experience by the time Twitch was launched and commands such loyal fan base that he can stream about just about anything he wants. He has also amassed a huge following on YouTube. He is a co-owner and advisor at NRG Esports and is a member and co-owner of the gaming organization One True King.
Career
Sodapoppin originally started his career in 2008 on the now-discontinued streaming platform Xfire. He was one of the original streamers of World of Warcraft (WoW) and was particularly good at it, which resulted in viewers flocking to see his stream in massive numbers. After Twitch launched, he joined the platform around 2012 and immediately blew up there thanks to his four years of livestreaming experience. He joined YouTube around the same time, uploading his first video in June 2012. What was unique about him was that he did not restrict himself only to gameplay streaming, and rather did a vast number of crazy stuff on camera, like having a sharpie on his face, dancing for donations, and being a “complete sellout”, in his own words. He livestreamed his life long before Just Chatting became a thing on the platform. He reached number one ranking on WoW PvP in 2014 and had over half of Twitch’s WoW audience watch him on several occasions.
However, he quit WoW for a while in 2015, stating the PvP had become stale, and started streaming a variety of games including battle royals and GTA games, other than random stuff like showing his dogs. He also started streaming blackjack gambling on casino websites, which got him into trouble for irresponsibly exposing a huge fan base, including children, to such content. With all the money he made from streams, he became a co-owner of the Canadian esports organization Northern Gaming in May 2015, and it was purchased by NRG Esports in August 2017, making him a co-owner and advisor at NRG. He was later credited with popularizing the game Among Us during the COVID-19 pandemic. In July 2022, he became the newest member and co-owner of the gaming organization One True King, joining the likes of Mizkif, Asmongold, EsfandTV, Rich Campbell and Tips Out.
Family Life
Sodapoppin was born as Thomas Chance Morris and is the youngest of seven siblings. He has shared pictures with his family on Instagram. His brother Dustin Morris is also a Twitch streamer who goes by the alias DKane. There are several Reddit threads about DKane beating Sodapoppin on stream. Sodapoppin has a German Shepherd named Buddy and a Border Collie and Golden Retriever mix named Kevin, apart from an F4 Savannah cat named Finn.
He was in a relationship with fellow Twitch streamer Lea May Currier, aka LegendaryLea, but they broke up reportedly because of her heavy drug and alcohol abuse.
