MeganPlays is the online alias of American gamer, YouTuber, streamer, vlogger and entrepreneur Megan Letter who has several YouTube channels like MeganPlays, MEGAN, MeganPlays Live and MeganPlays RB. She was also a part of the YouTube gaming group ProperIdiots. In 2020, with her husband Zach Letter, she founded the Roblox game studio Wonder Works, through which she has released games like Overlook Bay and Traitor!
Early Life
MeganPlays enrolled into the University of Texas at Arlington in 2013 and completed her major in design and visual communications in 2017. Prior to becoming a full-time YouTuber, she worked as a sales associate, shop stylist, and hostess.
Career
MeganPlays started her social media journey in June 2014 by creating both her YouTube channel MeganPlays and her Twitter profile. Her first video that same month featured gameplay of Diablo 3, following which she formally introduced her channel from her parents’ office and promised to upload Lets Plays, vlogs, and beauty hauls. She has since then made videos on various games including The Sims 4, Minecraft, and GTA V, and also made vlogs and Q&A videos. In April 2015, she announced that she would start streaming on Twitch. She had also launched a second channel, called MEGAN, in July 2015. She announced joining other YouTube gamers like AviatorGaming, UnspeakableGaming, MooseCraft, Ryguyrocky, and Jaybull on the new YouTube channel, ProperIdiots, in June 2016. However, the channel has been abandoned since June 2018.
While she consistently made content for her personal channel and was conscious about including variety contents, she had only amassed a few hundred thousand subscribers by mid-2018, which provided limited income that was not enough to live off. However, once she started featuring Roblox content to tap into that rapidly growing market, her channel grew exponentially. Most known for making content on Roblox games like Adopt Me! and Royale High, she surpassed three million subscribers in early 2021. She had started diversifying her content in 2019, and went on to launch two more channels called MeganPlays Live and MeganPlays RB. In 2020, she and her husband Zach Letter formed the Roblox game studio Wonder Works to have more control over her content. The first game released from the studio was Overlook Bay, where players can adopt a pet, build a house and explore the city. Thanks to her massive audience, the game was an instant hit and amassed over $1,500,000 in revenue in just four months, following which she was featured in an article on Forbes. They then hired several fulltime employees and began working on more games like Traitor!
Family Life
MeganPlays was born as Megan Elizabeth Leeds and has a twin sister named Kaitlyn. She is allergic to cats. She was previously in a relationship of over four years with Sam, whom she featured in the video Black Ops lll Juggernog Unboxing!! in November 2015. She started dating YouTuber Zach Letter in 2017. He proposed to her in Granada, Spain in May 2018 and they got married on May 17, 2019.
