Career
Maia Knight joined TikTok in June 2021 and began posting videos of her doing chores around the house. She quickly gained fame on the platform for sharing videos documenting her life as a single mother of twin daughters Scout and Violet (affectionately nicknamed Scotch and Vodka). Her popularity skyrocketed as she began to make more and more videos featuring the twins. She also collaborated with other TikTok mothers like Savannah Marable. She further moved to other social media platforms like Instagram and YouTube where her online fame continued to grow.
However, after gaining over eight million fans on TikTok by using her twins as content, she shocked her fans by suddenly deciding to stop sharing images and videos of her daughters in late 2022. A lot of her fans were furious and stated that she should have considered safety concerns before sharing their pictures and videos online for about two years. In the meantime, rumors on the MaiaKnightSnark subreddit claimed that a court order prompted the decision as the babies’ father was back in the picture. She has also received criticism for her parenting techniques. Once she revealed how the kids didn’t have a pediatrician anymore after she disagreed with a couple pediatricians about their food habit.
Family Life
25-year-old Maia Knight gave birth to her twins, Violet and Scout, on March 22, 2021. In a now-deleted TikTok video from 2021 following the viral “Grace Kelly” TikTok challenge, she had revealed that she found herself five-weeks’ pregnant with twins after taking a random pregnancy test and visiting her OB-GYN. When she told it to the babies’ father two weeks later, he abandoned her after asking her to get an abortion and stop contacting him. She moved in with her mother and struggled with depression worrying about how two raise twin daughters as a single mother. The babies were born prematurely and spent three weeks in the neonatal intensive care unit. She was raising them with help from friends and family, but after she became a viral sensation, the babies’ father apparently filed a lawsuit regarding the children’s safety due to their constant online exposure. Although she usually described herself as both “mom and dad” to her daughters, in one of her videos, she mentioned that the kids were “with their dad” while she was taking some much-needed alone time. She captioned the video, “I have to keep myself busy or I get sad and lonely”, pointing to the fact that she and the twins’ father may now be sharing custody of them
