Honeybobabear is the online alias of American social media star Kelly Kay, who is known for inspiring her massive audience to clean up and organize their space through her videos on her YouTube channel and her TikTok profile. She is also active on most other platforms including Instagram. She has done promotional content for Direct TV Space and Pinterest, and has her own storefront on Amazon's online marketplace.
Career
Honeybobabear was still in high school when she was inspired by videos of YouTubers like Alisha Marie and Remi Cruz which taught her how to organize her space so that it looked cool, and showed off her interests and personality. She was motivated to become a YouTuber herself and created her YouTube channel in October 2016. Her first video, WHATS IN MY BAG?! 2017 | High school Vs. College, was uploaded in January 2017. In the following months, she continued to upload regular YouTube content like GRWM vlogs, challenges and beauty videos. Her popularity got a boost when she appeared with Ellen DeGeneres on her daytime TV show in May 2017.
However, it was not until January 2018 that she showed off her organizational skills in the video, Cleaning My Room | Kelly Kay. Starting out with her own room, she continued to showcase how to organize and maintain things like hot chocolate and boba bars, earning a reputation that she can organize anything. While she usually made longer videos for YouTube, she decided to try short videos by joining TikTok in September 2019. She started to make more on-the-point videos and quickly gained a massive following on her TikTok profile. The Covid-19 pandemic also contributed to her rapid growth as most people had plenty of time to watch her videos and organize their homes amidst lockdown. She later brought her short-form videos back to YouTube as Shorts, which further helped in increasing her popularity. Apart from YouTube and TikTok, she also often shares her videos as Instagram Reels and showcases her craft through Instagram Stories.
She surfaced on the news in March 2022 through her mission to “reset” her house in order to organize and design her home around her favorite products, especially getting a guest bedroom makeover with her reusable Starbucks cup collection. Moreover, she has done paid partnership videos with Direct TV Space and Pinterest. Despite her huge presence on various social media platforms, she makes all the videos all by herself, including behind-the-scenes work. She further stated that she wanted to handle everything herself at least for the time being, because she wanted full control over how she wanted to be seen. However, she did not rule out hiring an editor in the future. Although her channel’s contents, as well as her appearance and voice have gone through a lot of changes in the past few years, her enthusiasm to organize remains the same.
