Crayator is the online alias of Australian Twitch streamer and YouTuber William Clifford Ryan. Best known for his Fortnite videos, he has also made videos about Minecraft, Overwatch and GTA 5. He was previously a member of the Australian YouTube group Click. His YouTube silver play button was reportedly stolen, although he has recovered it. He is also active on Instagram and Twitter.

Early Life

Crayator has mentioned hating school because of bullying and that he smoked weed at the age of 14-15 after being offered by a classmate. He later completed his bachelor of arts in psychology, with electives like philosophy and Japanese.

Career

Crayator created his eponymous YouTube channel on October 7, 2013 and uploaded his first video on July 28, 2014, although the video is not available anymore. His oldest video currently is NEVER TRUST YOUR 'FRIENDS'! – Fornite, posted on November 26, 2017. Before that, he started streaming on Twitch in August 2015, although at the time he was studying in college and was also working at a corporation. He began by streaming The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, but later moved to multiplayer games such as Minecraft, Overwatch, Fortnite and Among Us. After completing his degree, he left his job and started streaming fulltime and achieved a breakthrough after two years of streaming when he received a sponsorship deal from Asus - Republic of Gamers. In 2017, he gained fame for participating in the Overwatch eSports tournament, organized by Blizzard Entertainment.

Twitch Ban

Crayator was hit with a surprise ban by Twitch, which was reported on August 22, 2022 by StreamerBans Twitter account, an automated account that tracks partnered Twitch streamers and their ban history. He subsequently acknowledged the ban to his fans through a Twitter post, sharing a parody video with the caption My time has come... The video showed a figure with the Twitch logo covering its face writing Crayator’s name on a piece of paper, following which he suffers a heart attack and falls in a pool. He clearly didn’t take the ban too seriously, and in another post, suggested that his fans join his Discord server to know the drama behind his ban. It seems his ban lasted only for a couple days, and while he didn’t divulge the reason why he was banned, one fan claimed he showed a Vietnam War clip which resulted in the ban, while someone on Reddit speculated that he showed a dead body, probably from Ukraine.

Family Life

Both his parents were mechanics and struggled to support the family, more so because his father was also an alcoholic. When he was nine, his grandfather died and the family moved in with his nan. He shared a room with his brother, his sister and his nan, and even shared a bed with his brother until he was about 15. He was previously in a relationship with a girl named Chloe.
